Willem Beukes and Henry Khumalo were painstakingly combing Brenda’s apartment for clues. After Beukes regained consciousness Captain Smalls gave him and Khumalo primary shadow duty on Dixie. They were now officially in charge of the Twin Killer case and Beukes did not want to screw this up. This was his chance to make something of himself. His dad would be so proud.

That loathsome woman that smelled of penis is gone. Great, now I can focus again. Put your coffee cup on the table. Good. Try not to step in any blood. Awesome. Before she barged in here and threw out my mojo I picked up a distinct aroma that did not belong to either of the sisters.

Chapter 7

Later that afternoon, standing perfectly still in the centre of the living room, Dixie was taking in the atmosphere of the small apartment. He could smell the brutal violence that was perpetrated here and he did not care for it one bit. The dark red stench of blood hanged in the air like a death shroud. It clung to the walls, floor and ceilings, making it difficult to discern any other odours. The fact that the police have already trampled the crime scene since the call came in did not help matters.
